dragonflyOS

Today, I decided to create a long-term plan for a new operating system based on Linux, called dragonflyOS, focusing on the following main goals:
-
Remove binding libraries. Binding libraries require providers to commit long-term to them. However, a stable system containing many binding libraries makes long-term operation and usage very difficult.
-
Eliminate anything that can be eliminated. A minimal operating system.
-
Support only Intel x64 and Arm64, and development on Flutter/Dart x64.
-
Developed on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS but will follow its own branch, unrelated to Ubuntu.
-
No use of VM or Snap.
-
Closed or open source doesn’t matter, as long as it brings benefits, does not violate user rights, and complies with the law.
-
Our focus is the main goal: “Small & Fast”—everything else is secondary.
Due to limited resources, I cannot devote most of my time to the core first. Therefore, I chose to optimize from the top down, starting with the user interface.
The long-term goal is for dragonflyOS to have downloadable images starting from this day next year, with support for Vietnamese and English in two separate images.
Thank you. For any issues, please contact us through the contact section.
